THE DOORS: BREAK ON THRU – A CELEBRATION OF RAY MANZAREK is a hybrid concert and documentary capturing a 2016 performance in Los Angeles, CA by surviving Doors members John Densmore and Robby Krieger to honor fellow Doors member Ray Manzarek on what would have been his birthday on February 12th. The Doors were born when Ray Manzarek met Jim Morrison on Venice Beach in 1965. Ray became the beating heart of The Doors and the architect of their intoxicating keyboard sound. Manzareks evocative playing fused rock, jazz, blues, bossa nova and an array of other styles into something utterly, dazzlingly new. The setlist from the concert consists of Doors songs performed by John and Robby alongside a cast of all-star guest musicians including Taylor Hawkins and Rami Jaffe (Foo Fighters) Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots) Stephen Perkins (Janes Addiction) Exene and John Doe (X) Warren Haynes (Govt Mule) Brian Ray (Paul McCartney) Andrew Watt and more. The film also includes rare archival footage of the band, conversations with Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, and esteemed music journalist Ben Fong-Torres, as well as new interviews with John and Robby.
Thought he od on heroin in that clubs bathroom and thay moved his body to his apartment bathtub because that club was a hang out for rock stars and thay didn't wont to give it a bad name.

This is the quintessential Doors song. Vivid with exceptional imagery, drug use metaphor, psychedelic musical composition, and amazing vocals, this is a great example of everything The Doors do the best, and all on the same track. Jim Morrison was way into his psychedelics, and this is most likely a reference on LSD use, and the presumption that it helps users to have that breakthrough… Getting out of (social) reality, drawing new connections and acquiring a clearer image of whats going on. After such an epiphany, one could claim that they passed on to the other side. Its worth mentioning that the name The Doors itself, was inspired by Aldous Huxleys novel The Doors of Perception which contains accounts of the authors mescaline trips. Aldous Huxley borrowed the title of his book from a stanza in William Blake s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell.

Seems like all the Doors books, documentaries, and the film all focus so much on Morrison. I've always felt Manzarek was equally important in the Doors creation, sound and mythos.
